Lead Maintenance and Publications Engineer, Derby, Competitive Package

The Lead Maintenance and Publications Engineer is a new role within the Safety and Operations function.  The main accountability is to support the delivery of a safe and cost-effective railway through the management, development and delivery of maintenance and engineering documentation for the Porterbrook fleet.  The role will also review and develop maintenance strategy for Porterbrook’s fleets in association with the Fleet Services and the Commercial teams, to ensure the highest levels of reliability and performance.  A key deliverable will be to lead and direct the production of rolling stock technical documents for maintenance, overhaul and modification projects, including presenting the information in clear and simple English.  The development of the best approach to document management will be a role requirement. The role offers the opportunity to develop new ways of working using technology as an enabler. Longer term there is the potential to offer document management services to the customer base as an added value service.
We are looking for a Chartered Engineer, or someone working towards this level, with a minimum of 5 years Fleet and Rolling Stock experience gained within a  ROSCO, TOC or manufacturer.  A strong understanding of rolling stock systems is essential along with a sound understanding of engineering standards.  The ideal candidate will have experience of working with technical documents and will have utilised document management systems including SharePoint.  Individual skills will include project management, stakeholder engagement and supplier management.  A track record of coming up with effective solutions to manage documentation would be helpful along with a track record of taking change projects forward from concept to implementation in this area.
