Engineering Project Engineer (New Build), Derby

The engineering function is seeking the most talented engineering resources in the industry to join its team, to enable the business to be fit for the future.

The role of the Engineering Project Engineer (New Build) will be to lead the new build projects. Key elements will include taking the project from concept through to delivery, via a defined acceptance process, management of project budgets, managing the project plans and effective management of any risks. The role will involve working in close collaboration with suppliers, train operators and the internal fleet engineering team. The role will also involve ensuring that the projects are delivered safely and with a focus on the end passenger experience.

Candidates for this role will have 5  years rolling stock engineering experience and be either a Chartered Engineer or working towards this. Ideal candidates must have specific experience of working with new build fleets or in leading large-scale engineering refurbishments projects. They will also have a strong track record of managing supplier relationships with either manufacturers or maintainers. Organisational capability and planning skills are key to the success of this role, along with the ability to identify issues before they emerge and take appropriate remedial action.
